How Not To Buy Scrubs For the Office

Scrubs, Uniforms — Judy @ 2:16 pm

It sounds great doesn’t it?  Your employer wants to buy medical uniforms for the entire office.  Wait, wait…sounds too good to be true?  It probably is.  First of all, chances are that your employer never went to fashion school and his favorite color is pea green.  Maybe his mother told him once that pea green made his eyes look bluer, but on you, the color makes you look like you are recovering from malaria.  The next problem is that he somehow got his hands on a medical uniform catalog distributed by “Cheap R Us.”  The prices are awesome and embroidery is free!

Fast forward to two months later when your office scrubs finally arrive.   When you open the box, you are overwhelmed by dozens of pea green uniforms that somehow look even worse than you imagined.  You’ll never eat peas again.  One size fits all turns out to be false advertising.  The petite girls are walking on their scrub pants and the tall girls are grumbling about their “flood pants.”  You also discover that you have to buy pea green underwear as the scrubs are so thin, your flowered undies are making their own fashion statement.

But, you have to wear your new medical uniforms since your employer made a sizable investment ($3.00 a set) for these stunning scrubs.  And the embroidery?  From now on, you are officially “James” since “Jamee” fell victim to a typo.  As much as you hate your new scrubs, you need more since they rip every time you bend over to pick up your pen.  You place an order to find that “Cheap R Us” has discontinued the pea green color.  This season, their green is called olive pit green and it’s just a shade different.

The boss is grumbling because everyone is wearing medical uniforms in varying shades of green this week, and a few folks have started sneaking in with some of their print tops.  The troops are starting to revolt.  My point?  I’ve said it before and I’m saying it again.  Let your customer friendly owners at ScrubsDirect.com help you with your medical uniform needs.  We’re getting pretty smart at figuring out what a group needs for their image.  We may not be able to meet that great price of $3.00 for a medical uniform set, but we will select something from Cherokee, Barco, Iguanamed or other well respected medical uniform companies that will make everyone happy.  Call us before you make an investment in medical uniforms.  We love making new customer friends.

Remember…buy more scrubs from ScrubsDirect and have a great week.

Have Uniforms Will Travel

Scrubs, Uniforms — Judy @ 4:38 am

Yesterday was a good day in the folksy world of ScrubsDirect.  We took our colorful collection of medical uniforms to my mother’s nursing home in Sabina, Ohio.  The generous owners gave each of their employees a uniform allowance and asked us to be the provider.  For those of you who work in nursing homes, you know this is a great perk.  You all work hard and often, new medical uniforms are a luxury you can’t afford.

One of the biggest challenges of doing a nursing home show is where do you set up?  We don’t have a monster, walk-in truck and at this point don’t want one.  Our goal is to offer the cheapest prices in the area and the purchase of a truck defeats that purpose.  So, we load the cars and head off on the big adventure.  The staff at the nursing home was helpful and suggested setting up outside on several long tables.  The weather was gorgeous, all of the employees showed up, and we all had a great time.

The employees weren’t the only people who enjoyed our uniform show.  Several residents, including my mother, wheeled themselves outside to be of help.  My oldest son, Erik, came along to provide the strong back, and of course, his grandmother was thrilled to hang with him for the afternoon.  Another resident, Barb, spent several hours looking at uniforms and eventually purchased two out of her allowance.  Irene was the biggest help as she folded the scrub tops after the tables started to look messy.  She was rewarded with her favorite uniform top for her labor, and I was rewarded with a big hug and a sloppy kiss.

Well, today is another day and another show.  We’re going to a nursing home owned by the same group.  This home is very small and so out of the way, I haven’t even been there.  This time, my younger son will be assisting.  I anticipate having a lot of fun.  After all, everyone is happy to see the medical uniform people, especially when they are getting something for free.   Hope you all have a great day and an even better weekend.  Thanks for visiting ScrubsDirect.com.

Nice To Meet You

Scrubs, Uniforms — Judy @ 3:36 am

It was a busy weekend at our retail store, and that’s a wonderful thing.  Of course we enjoy putting money in the bank…who doesn’t, but a very pleasant perk is getting to know our customers.  I worked as a Hospice social worker for many years so I met a lot of people in homes, hospitals, nursing homes, doctor’s offices, etc.  The opening line in our medical uniform store is, “You look familiar.”  Eventually, we figure out the connection, share some war stories, catch up on who is working where, grab some hugs.  Hey!  We’re having fun!

And we’re not leaving out our internet customers.  My husband, Mike, is the chatty guy you get if you call us and he’s the one who answers your questions on our website.  Trust me, if there is a medical uniform that you have questions about, Mike will get you the information or go crazy trying.  He spent his work life selling, and if you want to know more about his career, just ask.  You might want to find a comfortable chair and a beverage, but the stories are interesting.

We’re happy to be in the medical uniform business.  Our customers are not in danger of losing their jobs.  Most of them work too many hours.  We’ve met a lot of people who lost their jobs but are back in school training to be medical assistants, LPNs, RNs, physical therapists, massage therapists…the list goes on and on.  They all need scrubs, and we’re happy to provide reasonable prices to get them started in their new careers.

If you live in Ohio, you need to look us up and join the party.  On the weekends we’re at Caesar’s Creek Flea Market near Wilmington, Ohio.  We’re also moving to a location near Greene Memorial Hospital in Xenia, Ohio.  Give us a call, drop a line, stop by and check us out.  We have Cherokee Workwear medical uniforms coming out our ears.  We have beautiful prints from Cherokee, Barco, and Peaches.  We have a great assortment of Iguanamed medical uniforms.  Our prices are the lowest in the country, and we have more fun than an adult should have at work.

Thanks to all of you for shopping with us and as always, buy more scrubs from Scrubsdirect.com.
